Intelligent jazz fans call the San Diego Jazz Festival “the crown gem of jazz festivals.” The event is held through the Thanksgiving weekend at the Town and Country Resort also Convention Center, in San Diego. The SD Jazz Fest is a preference of festival-goers from around the globe. All venue are conveniently placed in the Town & Country Convention Center. There are big concert rooms with double dance floors also small, informal “listening” rooms. All are non-smoking. The Festival bands represent a wide variation of traditional jazz, Dixieland, swing, ragtime, and rockabilly styles. The Festival offers something for all taste in classic jazz.
The 37th San Diego Jazz Fest will welcome our friends in the Swing Dance Association with a special “Swing Dance Show” on Saturday night, Nov. 26, 2016 at the Town & Country Resort also Convention Center. Warm-up sets begin at 3:15 pm and there will be non-stop music from 8:15pm-12:30 am. The displayed bands will be Dave Stuckey also his Hot House Gang, Joe Smith, and the Spicy Pickles Plus there will be exceptional demos with Joel Plys & his Hang Ten Hoppers. Both bands are renowned for playing great repertoires and perfect tempos for dancers, yet every band has a unique style also approach to Wave music. Don’t miss the “Battle of the Bands” within these two famous groups and the Swing Dance Competition with a $500 prize for the #1 couple.
